Or, as we like to say:
Perfection is in every detail!
Since 1899 – How it all began
The year is 1991. The Berlin Wall has been down for two years, and the old GDR no longer exists. As part of the reprivatization of former state-owned enterprises, the Falz & Kannenberg company is set to be returned to its original shareholders.
Ekkehardt Pauli, the former third-generation managing director, had witnessed the company being nationalized in 1972, forcibly incorporated into the VEB Formdrehteile. Now, almost 20 years later, he lacked the energy to reclaim the company. Instead, he turned to his son, Joachim Pauli, with a clear message:
“Either you do it, or we let it go.”
Joachim, who had spent his career working in other companies with no prior involvement in Falz & Kannenberg, took on the challenge—even though it meant battling against the bureaucratic hurdles of the Treuhand, the institution responsible for privatizing East German enterprises.
Since the company had existed since 1899, there were many legal heirs. Finding them all before German reunification proved impossible, delaying the privatization process. Finally, on May 1, 1991, the company was officially returned to its rightful owners, with Joachim Pauli leading the newly founded Falz & Kannenberg KG.

However, what he got wasn’t exactly a thriving business—rather, it was a semi-abandoned ruin, filled with outdated machines, some even dating back to World War II.
On top of that, the factory’s location—in a residential area near a major Leipzig traffic route—made it clear: staying put wasn’t an option.
Joachim made a bold decision:
- Sell the old property
- Move operations to a brand-new facility
- Rebuild Falz & Kannenberg from scratch
This meant relocating to Brandis, just outside Leipzig. Unfortunately, many historical company documents were lost during the chaotic move from the Kirschbergstraße 14 facility in Leipzig-Möckern.
What we do know is that Falz & Kannenberg was likely founded on May 1, 1899, originally located on Berliner Straße, Leipzig, until 1905, when it moved to Kirschbergstraße, Möckern.
From that point on, history becomes blurry. Stories and anecdotes exist, but verifying them is nearly impossible.
- April 30, 1993: The new facility in Gewerbeallee 13, Brandis officially opens.
- 1994–1995: A brief joint venture under the name Kopa GmbH.
- 1997: The company returns to the Falz & Kannenberg name.
- 2004: Expansion is needed as the company continues to grow.
The 2000s were a period of strong economic development, but the global financial crisis at the end of the decade was a harsh setback.
By 2011, things were looking up again. Joachim and his son Carsten Pauli decided to expand operations even further:
2012: A 900m² production hall with new office and social spaces was built.
Since then, the economic climate has been turbulent, but the company has successfully navigated through challenges, adapting to industry shifts while staying true to its commitment to precision and quality.
“Built on tradition, grown through experience, ready for the future.”
